Howell, Michigan – En una nueva edición de Talentos Latinos, tuvimos el honor de conversar con Camila Luis, conocida como Cami, una inmigrante argentina que actualmente se desempeña como Executive Communications Manager & Global Communications and Public Affairs en Google. A través de una entrevista remota, Cami compartió su inspiradora historia de superación, autenticidad y crecimiento profesional en el competitivo mundo de la tecnología.
Cami nació y creció en Argentina, en el seno de una familia trabajadora de clase media. Estudió Comunicación Social en una universidad pública y, gracias a una pasantía en Google Argentina en 2017, comenzó un camino que cambiaría su vida para siempre. “Sabía que tenía solo una oportunidad. Fueron seis meses en los que lo di todo”, relató. Aunque inicialmente no pudo quedarse en Google por falta de una vacante, su esfuerzo fue reconocido y, poco después, recibió una oferta para unirse al equipo de forma permanente.
Su trabajo inicial en Google no tenía relación con la comunicación, su verdadera pasión. Sin embargo, durante la pandemia, Cami sintió el llamado de volver a sus raíces. Mientras trabajaba, cursó una maestría en Comunicación Corporativa y, cuando se abrió una vacante en el equipo de comunicaciones internas de Google en California, no dudó en postularse. En octubre de 2022, hizo las maletas y emigró a Estados Unidos, donde actualmente reside en Santa Clara, en pleno Silicon Valley.
Para ella, esta oportunidad significó también un gran choque cultural. En la oficina de Google en Argentina, conocía a casi todos sus compañeros; en cambio, al llegar a las instalaciones de Google en California, se encontró en un entorno que albergaba a cerca de 30,000 empleados de la multinacional tecnológica.
Más allá de su carrera corporativa, Cami ha utilizado sus redes sociales para empoderar a otros jóvenes latinos, compartiendo recursos, consejos profesionales y la importancia del networking. “Creo contenido para ofrecer los consejos que me hubiese gustado recibir cuando estudiaba en Argentina”, afirmó. Su objetivo es claro: abrir caminos para que más latinas y latinos puedan soñar con llegar a empresas como Google, Microsoft o Apple.
Uno de los temas más poderosos de la conversación fue el valor de la autenticidad y el orgullo por nuestras raíces. “Nuestro acento cuenta nuestra historia. No reneguemos de él, abracémoslo”, dijo con convicción. Cami también enfatizó que el networking no es una transacción, sino una inversión a largo plazo basada en relaciones genuinas.
En cuanto a sus metas a futuro, Camila se está permitiendo “no saber”. Luego de años de vivir con metas claras y estructuradas, ahora explora nuevas formas de contribuir, no solo desde lo digital, sino también en persona, mediante talleres y charlas con jóvenes latinos en el área de la bahía. “Mi propósito es ayudar a otros a brillar. Lo que me apasiona es ver cómo alguien descubre su potencial”, explicó.
Su consejo final para los jóvenes latinos que sueñan con ingresar al mundo de la tecnología es poderoso y claro:
“Tu superpoder es ser tú mismo. Sé auténtico, abraza tu historia, tu acento, tu cultura. Mientras seas fiel a ti mismo, el mundo abrirá puertas.”

From Argentina to Google: The Inspiring Story of Camila Luis, a Latina Breaking Barriers in the Tech Industry

Howell, Michigan – In a new edition of Talentos Latinos, we had the honor of speaking with Camila Luis, known as Cami, an Argentine immigrant who currently works as Executive Communications Manager & Global Communications and Public Affairs at Google. In a remote interview, Cami shared her inspiring story of perseverance, authenticity, and professional growth in the competitive world of technology.
Cami was born and raised in Argentina in a working-class family. She studied Social Communication at a public university and, thanks to an internship at Google Argentina in 2017, began a journey that would change her life forever. “I knew I had only one shot. It was six months where I gave it my all,” she recalled. Although she was unable to stay at Google initially due to the lack of a full-time role, her efforts were recognized, and shortly afterward, she received an offer to permanently join the team.
Her first position at Google had nothing to do with communications—her true passion. However, during the pandemic, Cami felt the urge to return to her roots. While continuing to work, she pursued a master’s degree in Corporate Communications, and when a vacancy opened in Google’s internal communications team in California, she didn’t hesitate to apply. In October 2022, she packed her bags and moved to the United States, where she now lives in Santa Clara, at the heart of Silicon Valley.
For her, this unique opportunity also brought a major culture shock. At the Google office in Argentina, she knew almost everyone. But when she arrived in California, she found herself at a site housing around 30,000 employees of the tech giant.
Beyond her corporate career, Cami uses her social media platforms to empower other young Latinos by sharing resources, professional advice, and the importance of networking. “I create content to offer the kind of guidance I wish I had received when I was a student in Argentina,” she explained. Her goal is clear: to open doors so that more Latinas and Latinos can dream of working at companies like Google, Microsoft, or Apple.
One of the most powerful themes of the conversation was the importance of authenticity and pride in our roots. “Our accent tells our story. Let’s not hide it—let’s embrace it,” she said with conviction. Cami also emphasized that networking isn’t a transaction but rather a long-term investment based on genuine relationships.
As for her future goals, Camila is allowing herself to “not know.” After years of living with clear, structured ambitions, she’s now exploring new ways to contribute—not just digitally, but also in person—through workshops and talks with young Latinos in the Bay Area. “My purpose is to help others shine. What I’m passionate about is seeing someone discover their potential,” she explained.
Her final piece of advice for young Latinos dreaming of entering the tech world is powerful and clear:
“Your superpower is being yourself. Be authentic—embrace your story, your accent, your culture. As long as you stay true to who you are, the world will open doors for you.”
