DETROIT, August 12, 2024 / This October, the Talentos Latinos Awards will shine a spotlight on the remarkable contributions of Michigan’s Hispanic/Latino community. Organized by the Minority Education Freedom Foundation and Latinos En Michigan TV, this prestigious event will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by recognizing the dedication, service, and volunteerism of the state’s unsung Hispanic/Latino heroes.

The Talentos Latinos Awards aims to highlight the rich diversity within the Latino community and acknowledge the work, service, and dedication of individuals who tirelessly strive to enhance the lives of Hispanics/Latinos in Michigan. The awards recognize professionals across various industries, including nonprofit organizations, finance, economic development, manufacturing, health care, and more. These honorees have not only excelled in their respective fields but have also significantly impacted the Hispanic/Latino community in Michigan.
Event Details
The event will be held on October 3, from 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM, at The Lincoln Manor – Banquet Hall & Event Center in Lincoln Park, Wayne County, Michigan. This year’s proceeds will support the Minority Education Freedom Foundation’s programs, which focus on promoting art, volunteerism, and entrepreneurship among Hispanic/Latinos in Michigan.
Cultural Celebration
The Talentos Latinos Awards will showcase the vibrant culture of the Hispanic/Latino community with live performances by local Latino artists, including Adel Ruela from Mexico, and folkloric dances from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Venezuela. These performances aim to celebrate the diversity of cultures and dances within the Latino community in Michigan.
Event History
The awards were created by Colombian journalist and immigrant Liliana Ospina, the founder of Latinos En Michigan TV. Established in 2019, the Talentos Latinos Awards were inspired by video content that highlighted positive stories and the dedication of Latinos who have significantly improved the lives of fellow Hispanics/Latinos in Michigan.
Award Categories
The Latino Talent Awards feature the following categories:
- Latino Legacy Award: Honors a senior individual who has worked for the community.
- Amigo de Los Latinos Award: Recognizes a non-Latino who has supported the Latino community over the years.
- Latino(a) Community Leader: Awarded to a person working for the betterment of the community.
- Latino(a) Activist Artist: Recognizes a Hispanic individual who promotes the arts and culture.
- Michigan Latino Media Personality: Honors a Michigan Hispanic journalist or broadcaster.
- Latino Business Ambassador: Awarded to an individual promoting Hispanic entrepreneurship and business in Michigan.
- Michigan Latino(a) Entrepreneur: Recognizes a Latino entrepreneur or business owner.
- Talento Musical Latino: Presented to a Latino(a) artist performing music in Michigan.
- Voluntario Latino: Honors a person volunteering to help the community.
- Latino(a) Education Leader: Recognizes a Latino leader in education.
Tickets for the event are priced at $95 per person, including a strolling dinner, wine and beer, and a show featuring folklore from various Latin American countries.
