Once again, the children of the Holy Redeemer Grade School enjoyed a private concert with a star from the world of opera and guitarist Adam Levin.
Cecilia Violeta Lopez, listed as one of the 25 rising stars in the world of opera, delighted the little ones not only with her beautiful voice but with her inspiring personal story.
“My story is the typical story of the ‘Mexican dream.’ My parents came from Mexico as ‘wetbacks,’ as we say. They arrived in the United States to give us a better life since there were no resources in Mexico for our family and us,” said Cecilia.
“My mother took us to the beet field. That’s where I learned the love for music as she taught me all the ‘Rancheras’ songs. We sang the songs of Pedro Infante and Jorge Negrete a lot.”
“In that field, my mother used to do magic with music because signing those songs made the hours flew by. The days became shorter. My mother was the one who gave me the push to continue singing in the little town where we lived in IDAHO, ” she added.
In the event, the children had the opportunity to ask questions about the world of opera and learn more about the life of Cecilia Violetta Lopez.
«The fact that I am doing and sharing music like this brings me beautiful memories. In fact, making music with this intention is even more special,» Cecilia concluded.
Ideal Group and Michigan Opera Theater annually perform this event as part of the renowned concert «A Christmas Night for all» that is delivered free of charge for the community at Most Holy Redeemer Church.
